3 Tips for Being a Successful Avon Representative

I never had sales experience. For most of my adult life, I worked in a family business with a very small number of employees, 4 people. That’s right, 4 people. So, I was in a very isolated and isolated environment. When this job was no longer going to exist, I had to find something else to do to make money.

I found an Avon commercial on TV and thought, why not? I met a wonderful woman who would be my manager. Initially, I was very skeptical that this would work, but I started slowly, handing out flyers to friends and family. Of course, they placed orders, and so it began. Slowly, my customer base began to grow and I began to learn how to be a salesperson. So here are my 3 tips for being a successful Avon Representative.

Tip #1… Talk about Avon wherever you go. Mention it in all conversations with everyone. Talk about the jewelry you’re wearing, the perfume you’re wearing, the bag you’re carrying, because of course they’re all from Avon. Follow the rule of 3, talk to at least 3 people every day about your business. Always have your Avon brochures with you, in your purse, in your car, in your stroller. When you talk to people, get their contact information.

Tip #2…Follow Up! It’s not enough to give someone a book and expect them to call you. Let’s face it, YOU may love Avon, but these people have one life and won’t remember to call you. If you want to receive orders, you need to track and call them. A few days before my order ships, I send a general email reminder to customers who are on my email list, and for customers who don’t have email, I start calling to see if they’d like something. A lot of times people will say, oh, I’m so glad you called, I wanted to…

Tip #3… Be organized. If you keep your papers piled up on your desk, you’ll lose orders and you’ll lose customers. Always make sure your order is shipped on time. Keep an Excel spreadsheet to keep track of which customers received which brochures. When you are very busy and have a large customer base, it is important to keep track of this. Keep bills organized so you can keep track of who owes you money and who gets paid in full.
