Primal Post Workout Blueberry Breakfast Shake Recipe

I enjoyed a Primal Protein Blueberry Coconut Shake just minutes after a strength training workout. I will share the recipe with you below.

It only gave me 300 calories, which wasn’t enough, but I didn’t want a full meal because I knew I was going to eat at a local restaurant for brunch. There, I had a nutritious and delicious omelette along with some non-primary things that I will share in tomorrow’s post!

This recipe is simple but tasty. The shake was fluffy due to the whey protein and not much else, however if you add a little crushed ice it should be less fluffy and smooth. Enjoy!

Coconut Smoothie Recipe with Blueberries and Primary Proteins

  • 1.5 scoops of whey protein powder
  • 1 cup frozen blueberries (I used exactly 4.6 oz)
  • 2 tablespoons of grated coconut
  • 2 drops of stevia
  • 4 oz of water
  • Add ice if you like or have thawed blueberries

Personally, I prefer the Now Foods brand of whey protein powder. When you buy from Amazon in bulk, you get a fantastic deal. Due to the fact that I live in Michigan, I picked blueberries from a local farm last summer. Several pounds of blueberries are still stored in last year’s freezer. If you have fresh blueberries, add 1/4 to 1/2 cup ice or as desired to lower the temperature.

The 2 drops of stevia added a bit of sweetness. The powdered version of stevia is much better, but a couple of liquid drops will do.

Quick Nutrition Breakdown

  • 297 Calories
  • 38.8 g protein, 20 g carbohydrates (5 fiber)
  • Traces of some vitamins and minerals.

With less than 300 calories, this shake is perfect as a snack or as a “side” to a larger meal. It’s a good dose of protein. Three giant eggs cooked in coconut oil, butter, or lard would be a great addition to this smoothie. Eggs are one of the most nutrient-dense foods on the planet, as well as one of the cheapest.

If you like this shake with eggs, be sure to eat the whole egg. The yolk is the most nutritious part of the egg and the cholesterol content has no effect on the risk of heart disease.

Cost Breakdown – $ 1.43

  • Amazon Whey Protein – 90 cents
  • Shredded coconut from Amazon – 7 cents
  • I-Pick Blueberries from the Local Farm – 46 cents

This food is not cheap but it is not expensive either. If you double the recipe, most people have a full meal for less than $ 3.
