Alabastrite Vs Concrete

There are many decisions to be made when choosing the best fountain for your home and garden. Of course, you must decide the location of your source. Will it be in the garden, on the patio, in your hall, or in that quiet corner where you relax every afternoon? This decision leads us to the choice of materials for the fountain.

There are two main types of materials that you craft and use to create fonts. This is a brief description of each type that could possibly help with the decision.

alabastrite

The names polyresin and alabastrite are used interchangeably. Alabastrite is the name of the material used by manufacturers for polyresin items. So when you see font descriptive phrases that include the terms “made of alabasterite” or “polyresin font”, they are actually the same thing. Alabastrite is a white, chalky crushed stone material that, when processed, is smoother and more transparent than concrete and can be easily cast into highly detailed fountains. The molded fountain can be painted in various colors to produce the works of art that we display in our online catalogue. Although fountains made from this material can be placed outside in the garden, water-soluble paints can fade and disappear after a couple of years. These fountains are best located inside the home, where dusting is the only cleaning necessary to keep them beautiful for many years.

Concrete

Concrete fountains are the best option for outdoor placement because the material is heavier and harder and can withstand the elements. Concrete allows for a certain level of detail, and the overall cost of a large fountain is less. Concrete fountains can be painted, but if it is used, it is usually an overall color for the entire fountain. Some concrete fountain owners prefer natural weathering and believe that it makes the fountains prettier as they age. If desired, apply a clear concrete sealer to slow the aging and wear process. Very little maintenance is normally required unless the fountains are exposed to extremely cold or freezing temperatures. In that case, if it is not possible to store them in an enclosed area, they can be covered with burlap type cloth. If cracks or broken edges appear, concrete filler can be purchased at your local home improvement store.

Concrete fountains and polyresin fountains are beautiful additions to any patio, garden, patio, and home. With just a little care, they stay beautiful for many years and add to the enjoyment of your home.
