Different types of bras explained

For most of us, women’s breasts are something to admire for their beauty. But when it comes to the lingerie your partner needs to cover this particular part of their anatomy, our eyes tend to get glassy.

If your wife tells you that you have a fuller figure or a larger size, the fog in our minds tends to thicken.

So next time you’re shopping for a bra for your wife or partner, here’s a guide to some of the more popular options you’ll find in store or online.

Balcony Bra.

A balcony bra fits most body shapes and, as the name suggests, provides a “balcony” for the breasts to support and is therefore quite flattering.

It can be worn with most outfits and is ideal under a scoop neck or low-cut top.

Plunge bra.

A plunge bra is lower in the front than a balcony bar and tends to pull the breasts together and up. Therefore, it is ideal for enhancing the cleavage, which many women like very much.

For a deep V-neck top or low-cut top, a plunge bra is ideal.

Push-up bra

The push-up bra is designed primarily to give maximum lift and also to accentuate the cleavage.

It is an everyday type of bra and can be worn under most types of clothing.

Full coverage bra

If your partner asks for a plus size bra, you will probably want a full coverage bra. This bra covers the entire chest and sits much higher on the chest and therefore does not show any cleavage.

It is the perfect bra for the woman who has a larger chest, as it is fully closed and provides great support. So ideal for the fullest figure.

Half cup bra

Similar to a full coverage bra, but does not cover the entire breast. They tend to show more cleavage than a full cup bra and therefore do not provide the same level of support.

The Demi Cup Bra tends to be more attractive and feminine and would probably be worn more in the evenings or for dressing.

Molded cup bra.

A molded cup bra has no seams. This is because they are made from a single piece of material.

This means that they are perfect to wear under really thin material or any particularly tight clothing.

Multipurpose bra.

Most women have a multi-way bra in their lingerie pattern and this is because they are so flexible.

Plus size, large cup size, teen bras, these can all be multi-shape bras.

The straps adjust so it can be worn strapless, halter neck or as a standard bra.

Therefore, this bra is ideal for halter neck tops, strapless tops, cross back tops or off shoulder tops.

T-shirt bra

A t-shirt bra is the ideal summer bra. The cups are molded and seamless, which means it can be worn with T-shirts or any clothing that is made from an ultra-thin material.

Padded bra.

The most popular bra choice is padding. This will enhance the natural curves of the wearer and give it a great shape.

A padded bra is incredibly comfortable to wear and can be worn under many different types of clothing. Usually it will give a woman great confidence in her figure.

Sports bra

A must for any lingerie collection. A sports bra provides great support without wires and is made of a stretchy material. This means that it is ideal for exercising and will move with the user. This is perfect for aerobics, jogging, and any other active sport.

And if all else fails, ask your wife or partner!
