By the time 3G services flourish, the iPhone may be an outdated device.

The iPhone has features that are not very attractive to Indian consumers. It features only a decent quality 2-megapixel camera, which is now found in most mid-range phones. It does not support video recording, but with the addition of a third-party software application, you can perform video recording.

On the plus side, the iPhone 3G is a really great phone in terms of style and looks. It has an accelerometer that automatically flips photos and navigation based on the direction of the phone, be it portrait or landscape. Potential competitors are now betting on this iPhone model and are inducing touchscreen navigation. Brands like HTC, Blackberry are all ready to compete with the iphone. The price of the iPhone is its disadvantage and the reduced costs can only increase the sales in the Indian market. The phone lacks some of the basic features like message forwarding which are not in the mindset of Indian buyers. There is speculation about a possible reduction in the price of Apple’s iPhone 3G in India. But until the price gets below the 20K marks, it’s hard for Apple to get breakthrough sales out of its revolutionary mobile phone.
