Makeup tips for different types of faces

The facial structures must be analyzed first to determine the correct facial types, so that all the attractive features of the face can be made prominent and more beautiful. By selecting the right makeup tips, even the uneven features of the face are made less noticeable. The most important step in achieving this is for you to clearly understand the shapes of the face.

oval face shape
The oval shape of the face is considered the most ideal shape. No special hairstyle or corrective makeup is required with an oval face shape as it is a very balanced face type. The eyebrows should have a clean shape. While applying lipstick, be sure to line your lower lip to create a fuller look, while simply following the natural look of your upper lip. Apply the blush to your cheeks in a ‘C’ shape and it should blend well with the outer corner of your eyes.

diamond face shape
The diamond-shaped face has a narrow chin and a forehead with small, wide cheekbones. You should reduce the width of your cheeks to achieve an oval-shaped face by applying a little dark shade of your foundation to the outside of your cheekbones that extends towards the outer corner of your eyes. The lightest shade of foundation should be applied evenly across the forehead and chin to create an illusion of width to the face. Your eyebrows should be separated from the center following the natural arch. Lip color is applied along the natural lip line.

heart face shape
This type of face has a narrow chin with a wide forehead. You can increase the width of your jawline and chin with a light shade of foundation and minimize the width of your forehead by applying a darker shade of foundation. Your eyebrows should be straight and thick following your natural arch with an eye distance between the eyebrows. Lip color should be applied to your natural lip line. White eyeshadow or a lighter shade should be applied to the sides of the cheeks and down the center of the forehead to create the illusion of spaciousness. Blush should be applied to the upper cheekbone.

round face shape
This type of face shape has an equal proportion of length and width. You can add some length to your round face to give it an oval shape. A narrow forehead looks good on these types of faces which can be easily shaped by using a deeper shade of your foundation on the sides. The dark color of the foundation should be applied under the cheeks and along the jawline to give a slim look. Your cheeks would look narrow if you applied blush and blended well on your cheekbones. Lip color should be applied to the inside of the lip line. The eyebrows should be in a sweeping shape. Brow pencils should be used to give the eyes and brows a longer look.

square face shape
A square jaw and straight forehead make for a strong face shape. The dark shade of foundation used on the sides of the face and jawline would tone down the wide corners of the face. You should blend a small amount of blush on your cheeks towards your jawline to accentuate the length of your face. A square face shape gives a soft touch with round shaped eyebrows. Lip color should be applied to create fullness in the lips so that attention can be drawn away from the square jawline.

long face shape
To reduce the length of a long face, you must create a noticeable illusion of width. Slightly thick eyebrows with their natural arch are needed to reduce the length of the face. Eye makeup should be aimed at achieving the look of wide eyes. Apply the eyeliner from the center of your eyelid and angle it towards the outer corner of your eye. The lip line should look full in appearance. Blush should be applied to the cheeks, but no higher than the outer corner of the eyes and not even below the tip of the nose. The deep foundation shade is applied to the top of the forehead and across the chin and jawline to reduce the length of the face.

pear face shape
Wide chin, wide jaw and narrow forehead are the characteristics of this type of face. The extra width to the forehead with an illusion of the length of your face looks best on these faces. Your eyebrows should have a high arch at the outer ends. Blush application on the cheekbones should blend well towards the jawline. The deep foundation color should be applied to the sides of the face to minimize the width of the jawline for a slim face appearance.
