Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder: OCD and Excessive Walking or Running

I know how this is because I used to do it.

When you feel like you have to walk or something bad is going to happen to you or in relation to your OCD, then you have excessive walking or running type OCD.

Sometimes there are people who deal with their OCD by walking or running and basically trying to walk or run to get away from the symptoms. This happens long before they actually turn to drugs. If you do resort to medications, make sure they are prescription drugs that have been prescribed for you by a professional.

This one is more difficult because if walking and running help you what they should because those activities release calming chemicals in the brain, it’s important to note that if it interferes with normal activities like work, family, school, church, etc. . . That this is OCD and you need to stop it or limit it to a certain time.

If you find that when you try to limit it, you become obsessive about it again to the point that if you feel that if you don’t, something bad will happen, it might be a good idea to stop for a moment. while. Or go with a jogging or walking partner and ask them to stop when they think it’s appropriate.

Take Action: Dealing with this type of excessive walking or excessive running OCD requires that you limit yourself. In nature, anything in excess is bad. Part of becoming OCD is realizing that a balance must be struck in your life.
