I was browsing the internet the other day and came across a website that was selling books on home building. It had a very nice color scheme and was easy to use. As a website designer, I showed this website to some of my friends, who are interested in home remodeling and repair. My friends and I love working on our houses and often get together for bigger projects, which we can work on together.
I’m planning to build an extra room for my expanding family and have done a little of everything. For example, I’ve removed and built new walls in my home, added light switches, replaced the kitchen sink faucet, and even fenced off the bathroom floor and tub enclosure. In my business, we do a lot of reading and research and I really wanted to build the room addition on my own, more out of a sense of pride and accomplishment than saving money by hiring a contractor.
I also love working with my family and friends on projects like this. Anyway, going back to the website I found on home building books, I found books and ordered them, one was on foundation and concrete work, this book provided me with the basic information needed to build my extra room foundation. The book was simple and easy to follow and I would recommend it to anyone interested in building their own foundation.
The next book was on green building and this book gave me information about home building that I had never thought of and put a lot of other things into perspective. I have this book more for me than for my project. The third book I bought was on plumbing called plumbing remodel and it was very informative as I was going to install a bathroom in my bedroom addition. This book had a lot of information I needed on how to install plumbing fixtures, preliminary plumbing, and finishing plumbing. I also recommend this book for first time homeowners and handymen.
The fourth book I bought was Precision House Framing [http://www.bookshelf4u.com/house_framing_books.htm] and this book is my favourite. I love building and this book explains everything with easy to understand and follow instructions. Did I say I loved this book? Either way to make a long story short, I built my bedroom addition and a lot of it for these books. I really recommend the home building books website for anyone interested in home repair, home building, new construction, and even feng shui.
